On the trail of history

In over 800 years of history, the people of the town and the surrounding area have faced numerous challenges. Fire, war, the Reformation, uprisings and revolutions have also affected Kahla and left their mark. During World War II, REIMAHG was built in an underground camp in nearby Walpersberg. Forced laborers toiled, suffered and died in the construction of the plant where the Me-262 was to be manufactured. Two associations have been working on this dark chapter of regional history for years and exhibit their findings in the Kahla town museum and the documentation center in Großeutersdorf.
